Automating Workflow on Octet Systems
Drug discovery is a long and arduous process requiring screening through thousands to millions of compounds or biologicals to find lead candidates. Octet RED384 and QK384 systems have an automated retractable door and plate stage that transfers the biosensor tray and sample and reagent microplates in and out of the instrument. Assays that require transferring multiple biosensor trays, sample plates and reagent plates can be performed in one walk-away session by the Octet system when integrated with a robot.
Octet software version 6.3 or greater not only enables running multiple-plate experiments, but also makes it possible to batch-analyze all the sample data. Automating data analysis dramatically speeds the process, greatly reducing time to results after large experiments. The software that runs Octet 384 instruments has automation hooks that enable integration with any automation system.
To create a turnkey robotic solution, ForteBio and Tecan have collaborated to automate Octet 384 systems with the Freedom EVO robot. The EVO software is fully integrated with the Octet software. Tecan provides custom hotels and carriers to enable moving biosensor trays and sample- and reagent-containing microplates in and out of the Octet instrument, thus enabling complete walk-away processing of experiments involving multiple microplates and biosensor trays.
