Tim Harkness
President & CEO, Cell Biosciences

Tim Harkness is the President & CEO of Cell Biosciences.  Formerly the Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Nektar. Prior to joining Nektar, Mr. Harkness served as Chief Financial Officer of Molecular Devices Corporation, an international life sciences tools company, from 1998 through April 2007, when the Company was acquired by Toronto-based MDS, Inc. While at Molecular Devices, he also had responsibility for worldwide manufacturing and corporate development as the Senior Vice President of Operations from 2005 to 2007. Prior to 1998, Mr. Harkness was Vice President of Business Development at Vivra Specialty Partners, a physician practice management company. From 1994 to 1997 Mr. Harkness worked in the health care investment banking practice at Montgomery Securities, and from 1989 to 1992 he was with Arthur Andersen & Co. Mr. Harkness holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business, a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, and is a CPA.

Yue-Teh Jang, Ph.D.
Partner, The Vertical Group

Yue-Teh is a general partner of The Vertical Group and has more than 20 years of experience in various executive positions in the health care industry. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Embol-X, a private company engaged in the development of proprietary medical devices to prevent stroke during cardiac surgery and other interventional procedures. Prior to that time, Dr. Jang was a vice-president for corporate R&D at Boston Scientific, vice-president for R&D at Cardiovascular Imaging Systems, a project manager with Mallinckrodt Medical, and a scientist with Deseret Medical. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Bacchus Vascular Inc., Dynamic Implants, Ensure Medical, Inphenix Corp.and Orbital Fixation. Dr. Jang received a B.S. in Materials Science from National Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan and a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Utah.

Joe Keegan, Ph.D.
President and CEO of ForteBio

Dr. Keegan has more than 25 years of experience managing life science tools businesses. During his 9-year tenure at Molecular Devices Corporation, Dr. Keegan grew the company’s revenues from $30 million to $190 million through internal growth and acquisitions. In early 2007, he oversaw its acquisition by MDS for $615 million. Dr. Keegan joined MDC from Becton Dickinson and Company where he served as President of Worldwide Tissue Culture and Vice President, General Manager of Worldwide Flow Cytometry. Prior to Becton Dickinson, Dr. Keegan was Vice President of the Microscopy and Scientific Instruments Division of Leica, Inc. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of ALSSA, BioImagene, Inc. and Seahorse Bioscience Inc. Dr. Keegan holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Stanford University.

Kazumi Shiosaki, Ph.D.
Managing Director, MPM Capital

Dr. Kazumi Shiosaki is the Managing Director at MPM Capital. She joined MPM as a full-time Venture Partner in 2003, having served as an MPM Entrepreneur-in-Residence since 2001 while also holding the position of Senior Vice President of Scientific Development at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, and prior to that, Senior Vice President of Drug Discovery. Dr. Shiosaki brings to MPM nearly 17 years of experience in the pharmaceutical-biotechnology industry, with a career that began at Abbott Laboratories where she worked on drug discovery programs in a number of therapeutic areas including Neuroscience, Cardiovascular, and Infectious Disease. Dr. Shiosaki received her Ph.D. in Synthetic Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.S. from Whitman College.

Craig Taylor
Partner, Alloy Ventures

Craig is a partner at Alloy Ventures and has been a venture capitalist since he joined Asset Management Company in 1977. He is a director of two public companies, Pharmacyclics and Lynx Pharmaceuticals. Craig also serves on the boards of a number of private companies, including Adeza, Galileo Pharmaceuticals, K2 Optronics, Picoliter, and Zyomyx. Craig serves on the Board of Advisors of the MIT/Stanford Venture Laboratory and the Stanford Office of Technology Licensing GAP Fund and is a past member of the Board of Directors of the National Venture Capital Association. Prior to becoming a venture capitalist, Craig worked in the Office of Technology Licensing at Stanford. He earned a BS and an MS in physics from Brown University and an MBA from Stanford University.

Jonathan Wang, Ph.D.
Managing Director, Asia of OrbiMed Advisors, LLC

Dr. Jonathan Wang is the Managing Director, Asia at OrbiMed Advisors, LLC. Dr. Wang has nearly 20 years experience in the life sciences field, most recently as General Manager of Burrill & Company's Greater China Group. Prior to Burrill, Dr. Wang worked for WI Harper Group and Walden International, both ranked among the leading global venture capital firms operating in Asia. At WI Harper, Dr. Wang was a Managing Director, overseeing the firm's life sciences activities worldwide. During this time he co-founded Bridge Pharmaceuticals, a pioneering cross-Pacific pharmaceutical R&D services company. Dr. Wang is Co-Founder and former Chairman of The BayHelix Group, a prestigious non-profit organization of Chinese life sciences business leaders. He holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Neurobiology from Columbia University, where he obtained scientific training under the supervision of Dr. Eric Kandel, a Nobel Laureate. Dr. Wang also earned an M.B.A. from Stanford University.

James Woody, M.D., Ph.D.
Partner, Latterell Venture Partners

Jim is a venture capital partner at Latterell Venture Partners. He was formerly President of Roche Bioscience in Palo Alto, California. Previously, Jim served as Chief Scientific Officer and Senior Vice President of R&D for Centocor, where he was responsible for antibody and peptide-based therapeutics. As Commanding Officer and Director, US Naval Medical Research and Development Command, he was responsible for medical research and development activities ranging from transplantation research to infectious diseases. Jim received his MD from Loma Linda University, trained in Pediatric Immunology at Duke University and Children's Hospital in Boston (Harvard), and holds a Ph.D. in immunology from the University of London, England. He has authored or co-authored more than 140 publications.
