Introducing the Octet as a reliable novel biosensor in characterizing protein/protein interactions

The presentation describes the study of protein/protein interactions using the Octet, a novel parallel-processing label-free biosensor. Two applications are described, namely “1-shot kinetics” and blocking, and examples are provided to demonstrate that the technology is reliable when compared with Biacore. The Octet is a simple dip-and-read assay that harnesses bio-layer interferometry to detect molecular level interactions in real time through the use of disposable fiber-optic biosensors. The Octet is emerging as an attractive low-cost complement to Biacore.
